Willie Nelson Writes Poem for Occupy Wall Street Protesters

Country music star and marijuana activist Willie Nelson recently wrote and poem with his wife Annie D'Angelo to show their solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement. The poem reads:

We stand with humanity,
Against the insanity,
We’re the ones with the 99,
We’re the seeds and we’re the core,
We’re the ones we’ve been waiting for,
We’re the ones with the 99,
We’re the windows and we are the doors,
We are the ceiling and we are the floor,
We’re the ones that we’ve been waiting for,
We’re the ones with the 99,
Stand up against tyranny,
You now have the floor,
We’re the ones that we’ve been waiting for,
We’re the ones with the 99,
The whole tax set-up is a little unfair,
But some of us don’t mind paying our share,
We’re the ones that we’ve been waiting for,
We’re the ones with the 99,
We’re the ones that we’ve been waiting for,
You’re the ones that we’ve been waiting for,
We’re the ones with the 99,
We stand with humanity against the insanity,
We’re the ones that we’ve been waiting for,
We’re the ones with the 99,
Our hearts in Z park against the old guard,
We’re the ones that we’ve been waiting for,
We’re the ones with the 99,
Even though all our bodies can’t be there,
We’ll be there in spirit because we care,
We’re the ones that we’ve been waiting for,
We’re the ones with the 99,
We stand with humanity against this insanity,
For all people to be free,
Us and them and you and me,
We’re the ones with the 99

  1. I have a poem for Willie!

    The 99 percent

You have staged your protests to complain about the rich. With your smart phones and your I-pads, you moan, and gripe, and bitch. You scream and carry signs that say that it’s not fair. You say our Nation’s wealthiest aren’t paying their fair share.

Well, what are you accomplishing with your bitter, angry mobs? Have your tirades in the streets created any jobs? This is the land of opportunity; a place where you can live your dreams. I think you’ve all forgotten what freedom really means.

It doesn’t mean that you sit back, and let others pay your way; living on the coat-tails of those who work hard every day. It doesn’t mean you step aside, arm stretched with open hand; hoping for a handout because your life is not as planned.

Freedom isn’t free but, you don’t want to pay. So, get the hell out if you don’t want to live the American way. If you want to be a socialist, then just go live in Greece. Let the rest of us pursue our dreams and live and die in peace.
